Trump’s Endorsements Dominate Texas Primaries

President Donald Trump has demonstrated strong influence in the 2026 primary season, with his endorsed candidates securing victories across Texas. This winning streak highlights Trump’s continued control over the Republican party. Fox News’ Madeleine Rivera reported on Ken Paxton’s success in the Texas Senate primary runoff, further cementing Trump’s political sway.

Dina Titus Secures Eighth Congressional Nomination

In Nevada, U.S. Representative Dina Titus emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for the 1st Congressional District. Titus defeated Gabriel Cornejo, Joy Hoover, and Luis Paniagua to secure her party’s nomination for an eighth term. With backing from labor unions and Democratic organizations, Titus held a significant fundraising advantage.

Despite challenges arguing for new leadership within the Democrats, Titus maintained her front-runner status. She leveraged her record addressing issues vital to Southern Nevada, such as tourism, transportation, and veterans’ affairs.

Challenges Faced by Titus’ Opponents

Titus’ primary opponents struggled to gain traction in a race overshadowed by statewide contests. Hoover, a businesswoman, and the nonprofit founder, Cornejo, and Paniagua, attempted to position themselves as fresh alternatives. However, they were unable to outperform Titus, the longstanding incumbent.

Focus Shifts to the General Election

As focus shifts to the general election, Titus is expected to face the Republican nominee in a district that has grown more competitive due to redistricting. Nonetheless, the Cook Political Report rates Nevada’s 1st Congressional District as “Likely Democrat,” reflecting its Democratic leanings and Titus’ incumbency advantage.

The district encompasses parts of eastern Las Vegas, Henderson, Paradise, and nearby communities in Clark County and has not seen a Republican representative since 1999. With a D+2 Cook Partisan Voting Index rating, it remains a significant focus for both parties.
