World Cup Soccer Tournament Returns to the U.S.

The World Cup returns to the United States for the first time in 32 years. Alongside Canada and Mexico, the U.S. hosts this prestigious event. The U.S. Men’s National Team, part of Group D, will play three group-stage games.

U.S. Group Stage Matches

  • June 12: U.S. vs. Paraguay at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California, 9 p.m. ET
  • June 17: U.S. vs. Australia at Lumen Field, Seattle, 3 p.m. ET
  • June 25: U.S. vs. Turkey at SoFi Stadium, 10 p.m. ET

As the tournament progresses, 48 teams compete in 104 matches over 39 days. The top two teams from each group, plus the top eight third-place teams, move to the round of 32. If the U.S. advances, its opponent in the knockout stage depends on group results.

Potential Knockout Stage Scenarios

Should the U.S. finish as the Group D winner, it plays on July 1 at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California, at 8 p.m. ET. As the runner-up, it will compete on July 3 at AT&T Stadium, Dallas, at 2 p.m. ET.

The round of 16 occurs from July 4 to July 7. Quarterfinals happen on July 9 and 10, with semifinals on July 14. The World Cup final is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
