Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) launched the Knockouts Television Championship during its Slammiversary event in Boston. TNA Hall of Famer Traci Brooks made an appearance after Elayna Black’s victory over Indi Hartwell and Mara Sadè in the pre-show.
“The TNA Knockouts, over two decades, have changed the landscape of pro wrestling,” Brooks stated. “The TNA Knockouts started the women’s revolution. We shattered glass ceilings, rewrote the rules, and created opportunities. Now, it’s time to make history again.”
The championship introduction was marked by the announcement of a 16-woman tournament starting this Thursday night. The tournament will conclude with the crowning of the first-ever TNA Knockout Television Champion. The new championship belt displays “KO” and “TV” in purple and black lettering.
Participants in the tournament have not been named yet, though Black, Hartwell, and Sadè may possibly compete, kicking off on “Impact.” Brooks emphasized the championship’s exclusive defense on ‘Impact’ television. She encouraged the knockouts to seize the opportunity to demonstrate their prowess in professional wrestling.
“Ladies, let’s make history,” Brooks declared.
TNA currently hosts six active championships; the Knockouts TV Championship becomes its seventh.
