Gotham FC’s Move to New York City: A New Chapter

Gotham FC is moving its home games from New Jersey to Etihad Park stadium in Queens, New York City. Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, the club’s governor, emphasized New York as an unparalleled sports stage. She highlighted their vision to become one of the world’s best sports teams and views this move as a crucial step.

Having claimed the National Women’s Soccer League Championship in 2023 and 2025, Gotham FC has demonstrated on-field success. Tisch Blodgett stated their aim to match this success off the field by enhancing the match-day experience.

The club plans to build a new stadium in the Willets Point neighborhood of Queens, set to open by the 2028 season. This move will relocate them from Harrison, New Jersey, where they currently share Sports Illustrated Stadium with the New York Red Bulls.

However, the relocation isn’t complete. Last month, Gotham FC announced a new training facility in Whippany, New Jersey. Tisch Blodgett remarked on the club’s long history of using borrowed spaces, highlighting the importance of having a permanent home for the team.

She said they will establish a top-tier training facility in New Jersey and create a premier home game environment at Etihad Park in New York.

“We will have a best-in-class training facility in New Jersey, and a best-in-class home gameday experience at Etihad Park in New York,” Tisch Blodgett stated.

The news has thrilled the team, especially the players who have experienced various challenges in women’s sports. Tisch Blodgett expressed the importance of having a custom-designed facility just for them as incredibly significant.
