A crew member from the Regal Princess tragically died after going overboard near Cancún, according to an announcement by the cruise company on Monday. The ship had left Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Port Everglades on Saturday.
The company has not disclosed the identity of the deceased crew member. In their statement, they expressed deep condolences to the family and friends of the crew member, emphasizing the availability of grief support services for those affected.
The incident prompted collaboration with local authorities and the Carnival Jubilee’s crew during the search-and-rescue operation, which the company appreciated sincerely.
Following the incident, the Regal Princess continued its journey and departed the waters near Cancún. The cruise schedule included a stop in Belize on Tuesday and is set to return to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday as originally planned.
