Cody Bellinger’s All-Star Game Triumph

New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger was celebrated as the All-Star Game MVP on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. Despite facing boos from Philadelphia fans due to past rivalries, Bellinger emerged victorious in the American League’s 4-0 win over the National League.

Bellinger made a significant impact by stepping in for Aaron Judge and Byron Buxton, both sidelined due to injuries. In the first inning, he hit a two-run single against NL pitcher Cristopher Sánchez, setting the pace for the game. Although he ended the night 1-for-3 with two RBIs, it was enough to earn him the MVP award. Bellinger expressed surprise, noting the dominant pitching throughout the game.

The MVP award presentation was conducted by Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. Bellinger’s family joined him for the memorable moment.

This award marks the Yankees’ third All-Star Game MVP, and the first since Giancarlo Stanton in 2022.

Bellinger’s teammate Ben Rice contributed with an RBI single in the first inning, increasing the AL’s lead. The scoring concluded with Miguel Vargas’ solo homer in the eighth inning.

Bellinger, a three-time All-Star, returned to the Midsummer Classic after last appearing as an NL MVP with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019. This season, he has maintained a 114 OPS+ and showcased strong defense for the Yankees. It is his second year with the team, following a significant five-year, $162.5 million contract extension.
