During a trip back to Washington from New Jersey, Trump flew on this Boeing 747-800, a gift from Qatar. The jet’s security came into question. A reporter asked Trump why the jet, without antimissile defense systems, was in use.
Trump responded, acknowledging the aircraft’s capabilities, and stated, “In about a month or so, they’re going to send it to have it be maxed out.” No specific details about the upgrades or the timeline were disclosed. A White House spokesman did not clarify the president’s comments further.
The acknowledgment suggested that the plane’s current security measures do not match those of the jets constructed specifically for use as Air Force One.
