Impact of Increasingly Frequent Government Shutdowns

3 weeks ago 0

In recent years, the United States has experienced longer and more frequent government shutdowns. These events have significantly impacted the operation of federal agencies.

Last fall, the federal government underwent a 43-day shutdown. This event marked a significant period when many government functions were halted. Earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security experienced a funding lapse lasting 76 days. This incident set a record as the longest shutdown in American history.

Both of these shutdowns occurred within the last 10 months and have highlighted existing vulnerabilities in the country’s governance system.
