Barry Manilow Cancels Kentucky Show Due to Health Concerns

Barry Manilow canceled his Kentucky concert on Tuesday just 45 minutes before it was set to begin. He cited ‘unforeseen circumstances’ as the reason for the rescheduling. This announcement came through a statement on X, emphasizing the lack of further explanation for the cancellation.

The 82-year-old singer, who revealed his lung cancer diagnosis last year, was met with mixed reactions. Some attendees criticized the late notice as disrespectful, while others offered him support and understanding. One fan wrote on X, ‘Sending hugs, take care, and remember you must come first,’ highlighting the compassion from his audience.

Back in December, Manilow shared details of his health struggles. After being diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer, he explained that the discovery came after dealing with an extended period of bronchitis. Following an MRI requested by his doctor, a cancerous spot on his left lung was detected. Manilow expressed gratitude for the early discovery, ‘It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news.’

Addressing his treatment, Manilow mentioned that there would be no need for chemotherapy or radiation, ‘Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.’

In February, the ‘Copacabana’ singer had to reschedule additional tour dates after consulting with his surgeon. The surgeon advised against performing a full-length show, stating, ‘Your lungs aren’t ready yet.’ Manilow recalled this advice, acknowledging that while he wished to perform, his body was not ready. He reassured fans, ‘When I do come back, I will COME BACK!’

Despite numerous cancellations since announcing his diagnosis, Manilow remains optimistic. In May, he postponed his ‘Hits Come Home’ residency in Las Vegas. However, he shared positive news about his recovery, stating, ‘I’m making great progress and look great!’ His doctor advised him to not return for the Las Vegas shows in May but encouraged him regarding his June arena concerts in the UK.

Manilow promised to return to Las Vegas in July and invited fans to join him in the UK in June, maintaining his upbeat spirit and connection with his audience.
