A New Mexico judge has labeled Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, a “public nuisance.” The judge ordered Meta to inject $567 million into a fund aimed at addressing the damages its platforms have inflicted on children.

The ruling, made by Judge Bryan Biedscheid, recognized that teenagers in New Mexico face a critical mental health crisis. He specified that Meta’s platforms are a noteworthy contributing factor to this crisis.
