In a tragic incident on August 7, 2026, a shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province, located northwest of Bangkok. The Royal Thai Police reported involvement in handling the situation. The incident resulted in confirmed deaths and injuries.
According to Royal Thai Police spokesperson Trairong Piwpan, the shooter was a student who remained inside the school. Arsit Sampantharat from the Interior Ministry shared the information without specifying the number of casualties or injuries.
Images from the scene one hour post-incident depicted both distress and support among people outside the school. Inside, police and emergency personnel worked to secure the area. Despite the secured building, the status of the shooter remained unclear.
“Students hid inside a classroom, hearing gunshots from another building,” a witness recounted. Police eventually escorted them to safety.
Recent incidents include a February attack by a 17-year-old who stole a gun from police and targeted a southern Thai public high school. That incident resulted in one death and two injuries during the two-hour episode. In 2023, a 14-year-old faced accusations related to a shooting at a prominent Bangkok shopping center.
