North Carolina DoorDash Driver Attacked in Broad Daylight

1 day ago 0

Christen Phillips, a mother of three, is recovering from a severe brain injury suffered during a food delivery for DoorDash. She was attacked with a baseball bat by Stanley Shockley, 44, who is now in custody.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office reported the attack occurred in broad daylight. The suspect allegedly pursued Phillips and beat her with a bat after she left her car to deliver food.

The incident began on August 1 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Phillips was stopped at an intersection awaiting the vehicle ahead to move. Shockley, reportedly in the vehicle, failed to move aside, prompting Phillips to honk her horn.

Following the honk, the situation escalated. The vehicle moved and trailed Phillips to her delivery destination. After completing the delivery, Shockley allegedly ambushed Phillips with a bat, striking her head and face, before fleeing the scene.

“He came around to my door with a small wooden bat or baton and beat me in the head and face with it,” Phillips shared on social media.

Phillips doesn’t recall the incident. She regained consciousness and managed to drive herself to a nearby hospital. She sustained multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds, and had drainage from her left ear due to the severe head trauma. Her left cheekbone was also fractured.

Police arrested Shockley on Monday. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

“We appreciate the number of tips and leads the public provided us,” said Sheriff Chris Thomas. “Our detectives carefully worked through the evidence leading to the suspect’s arrest.”
