A tragic incident occurred in a Seattle suburb, resulting in the death of a Costco employee named Jonathon Langdon. Reports indicate that Tyler Sorensen, 22, allegedly killed Langdon, 20, by ramming his car into Langdon’s motorcycle out of anger and jealousy.
Tyler Sorensen faces charges of second-degree murder following the July 31 incident in Issaquah. According to court documents, Sorensen followed Langdon out of a Costco parking area and veered into Langdon’s lane, hitting his motorcycle. This information comes from PEOPLE, which accessed the court records.
Security footage captured the events leading up to the collision. Authorities report that the impact threw Langdon into a metal signpost. Sorensen fled the scene initially but returned an hour later with a family member to speak with investigators, as stated by the Issaquah Police Department.
“The defendant, however, continued on his way without hesitation, only stopping to make sure his vehicle was okay to drive home,”
an affidavit cited by PEOPLE reveals.
Sorensen reportedly told investigators that he was jealous after witnessing Langdon embracing a female co-worker. Sorensen claimed she was his girlfriend; however, she denied any romantic relationship with him. She informed the authorities she had previously communicated to Sorensen that he was “crossing boundaries,” reports PEOPLE.
Following the hug, Sorensen texted his friends that his “blood is boiling.” He later told law enforcement that his actions were “stupid” and intended only to “spook” Langdon, not harm him.
Issaquah Police Chief Steve Mylett expressed his condolences: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim as they process this tragic loss of life.”
