The Arizona Cardinals will miss the talents of Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, for at least a week. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced that Love sustained an ankle injury during a preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Although there was initially little concern, Love felt soreness upon returning on Friday.
LaFleur remarked on Love’s condition, saying, “He was in great spirits, even Friday. But we’ll keep him out this week to let it heal. He’s a bit more sore than we anticipated.” However, when probed about Love’s availability for Week 1, LaFleur preferred to focus on the immediate practice sessions, stating, “This week and then we’ll go from there and reevaluate.” Love is confirmed to sit out the upcoming preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the absence of Love, Tyler Allgeier will assume the starting role, with Bam Knight and Corey Kiner as backups. Veteran James Conner is yet to join 11-on-11 drills due to a right foot injury that sidelined him for most of last season.
The Cardinals faced further challenges as second-round pick Chase Bisontis suffered a significant knee injury. A torn MCL in his left knee will place Bisontis on injured reserve, necessitating surgery. His absence marks a substantial hit to the offensive line, with LaFleur stating, “He’ll be out for a good amount of time, if not the whole year. Always think about the player first.”
