Wildfires Impact Washington and Oregon’s National Parks

Wildfires have affected all of Washington state’s national parks. There are currently 95 large, uncontained fires threatening landmarks such as Mount Rainier National Park in Washington and Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon.

The Border 2 Fire has filled North Cascades National Park in Washington with smoke. This development was noted on Friday by the North Cascades National Park Service.

As of August 13, 2026, fires have devastated over 6.4 million acres nationwide. On the previous Wednesday, 103 new fires were reported.
