Actor Shane Ryan Gledhill Accused of Serious Crimes

Shane Ryan Gledhill, a 46-year-old actor and producer from Lompoc, California, is currently facing 24 felony charges. Authorities accuse him of using online casting calls to engage with minors as part of a longstanding pattern of alleged child sexual abuse.

Investigation Initiated by Survivor’s Report

The investigation began in November 2021 when a 17-year-old survivor came forward. She reported what she described as suspicious and inappropriate behavior by Gledhill when she was 15. This sparked a detailed investigation by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, leading to the identification of nine survivors. Each was a minor at the time the alleged offenses occurred.

Search and Forensic Examination

In February 2022, investigators executed a search warrant at Gledhill’s residence. They seized thousands of digital files, which were then subjected to an extensive forensic examination. The investigation uncovered a pattern where Gledhill allegedly used online casting calls and film projects to contact aspiring young actors.

Public Release of Booking Photograph

Authorities decided to release Gledhill’s booking photograph to assist in identifying additional survivors or witnesses. He often used the professional names ‘Shane Ryan’ and ‘Shane Ryan-Reid,’ which might not be widely recognized under his legal name.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

The charges against Gledhill include serious offenses such as child molestation, rape, forcible sexual assault, contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, possession of child sexual abuse material, and providing harmful matter to a minor.

Gledhill was arrested at his home under an arrest warrant and is currently held in the Santa Barbara County jail with his bail set at $2 million.

Ongoing Investigation

Detectives believe the alleged misconduct could span approximately 25 years, potentially affecting survivors or witnesses in various regions, including California’s Central Coast, Los Angeles, and the East Coast.

Gledhill’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 9 at the Santa Barbara County Superior Court in Lompoc. Authorities continue to seek further information or survivors who have not yet been identified.
