Terry Moran’s Claims About ABC News and COVID Lab Leak Report

12 hours ago 0

Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran recently shared claims about his experience with the network and a report he led on the COVID lab leak theory. Moran discussed these events in an interview with ‘The Fifth Column’ podcast, detailing his concerns about censorship at the Disney-owned network.

In early 2021, Moran noted that discussions about the possibility of COVID originating from a lab were gaining traction among informed individuals online. ABC’s ‘Nightline’ allowed him to pursue a story on this theory. He interviewed various scientists and members of the Trump administration but reported without making conclusive claims. Moran indicated that he initially felt a natural origin was more likely but did not dismiss the lab leak possibility.

A significant claim Moran made was that, prior to airing, his report underwent extensive changes after being reviewed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, along with lawyers and standards teams. Moran expressed his frustration, explaining that the altered report became incomprehensible.

The two-part segment aired in June 2021. It explored the COVID origins debate, featuring interviews with Jamie Metzl, a critic of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and other experts who disagreed with the lab leak theory. Key ABC figures, such as medical unit producer Sony Salzman and investigative reporter Sasha Pezenik, expressed skepticism about the theory during the segment.

Recently, Anthony Fauci has come under scrutiny due to diary revelations shared by Sen. Rand Paul. These entries revealed discrepancies between Fauci’s public statements and private thoughts on COVID. His connections with media figures were also highlighted.

Senate Republicans recently voted to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress after he chose not to answer questions during a hearing. Despite the dismissal of the lab leak theory during earlier stages of the pandemic, several U.S. agencies, including the CIA, FBI, and Department of Energy, now recognize it as a possible origin.
