Teenagers Arrested for Trespassing at Congress Theater in Chicago

52 minutes ago 0

Sixteen teenagers faced charges of trespassing after being arrested at the closed Congress Theater in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. The arrests took place after police responded to reports of criminal trespassing. Officers arrived at the scene at around 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

Attempts were made by several teenagers to flee, but police apprehended and detained them. Among those arrested, two faced additional charges for possession of replica firearms.

These events occurred almost a week following the shutdown of an unauthorized rave organized at the theater. The rave had been led by DJ Kula, a notable figure in the local underground music scene. DJ Kula is known for organizing unsanctioned raves in various parts of the city, including locations like the Jackson Red Line station, the vacant Portage Theater, and the now-demolished Damen Silos.

The unsanctioned event at Logan Square reportedly drew hundreds of attendees, according to Block Club Chicago. The Congress Theater, a historic yet abandoned site, has become a hotspot for urban explorers who share their adventures through social media, showcasing the theater’s deteriorated and shadowy interiors.
