Kandi Krush’s Journey in Women of Wrestling

39 minutes ago 0

Kandi Krush is a formidable competitor in the Women of Wrestling (WOW) league. Known for her strength and skill, she was part of the group Top Tier with Coach Campanelli and Gloria Glitter. Together, they held the WOW World Trios Championship. However, as unexpected events often occur in wrestling, Krush and Campanelli eventually turned against Glitter, ousting her from the group.

Krush’s path in professional wrestling has been challenging. Her initial ambition was to succeed in synchronized swimming at the Olympic level. Unfortunately, injuries and what Krush described as a ‘toxic environment’ ended her dreams of achieving Olympic gold.

“My dreams were essentially kind of stripped from me,” she shared. “But at the same time, I took control over my own future and decided to pivot. Every obstacle is a lesson and maybe a sign to switch gears. So, I pivoted to boxing.”

Krush’s dedication and work ethic led her to success in professional boxing, where she remained undefeated. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her progress, impacting her ability to train as boxing gyms closed. This pause led her to reflect on her future goals, as the love of performing under bright lights continued to drive her.

Inspired by a Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson movie, Krush saw professional wrestling as a new path. Despite not having watched wrestling in her youth, she committed to the sport. She attended a WOW wrestling tryout, dedicating herself fully despite the risk of not making it into the ring.

“Even if they tell me I’m cut, I would still show up,” Krush said. “I was the first one there at tryouts, the first in and the last out. That’s my mentality, and it’s how I’ve risen so quickly in WOW. I did my due diligence, studying the wrestling past to improve my knowledge and skills.”

Krush attributes her resilience to her never-give-up attitude and her mother’s influence. She stressed the importance of learning from failure, stating that every failure is part of the journey, emphasizing the lessons gained rather than defeats.

“Failure is part of the journey, but I won’t quit,” Krush explained. “In boxing, we say, ‘No losses, only lessons.’ I hold that to be true in everything I do. I learn, improve, and move on.”

As “The Heavy Hitter,” Krush aims to inspire those who watch her compete. Early in her WOW career, she had a title shot and, despite not feeling ready, was encouraged by the support she saw from fans, including a young girl urging her to keep fighting.

Now, through WOW and her wrestling performances, Krush continues to inspire audiences with her resilience and determination.

WOW, co-founded and co-owned by Los Angeles Lakers minority owner Jeanie Buss, broadcasts episodes on Tubi and Vice TV. With Season 5, housed at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, Buss aims to showcase a new side of WOW while advancing the visibility and respect of women in sports.
