Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers added to their storied rivalry in Thursday night’s game, as Dallas triumphed over Indiana with a score of 91-85. The final moments of the first half highlighted their competitive spirit.

With less than 10 seconds on the clock in the second quarter, Clark had possession while Bueckers guarded her. Bueckers attempted to wrap up Clark’s left arm to prevent her from advancing, since the Wings had a foul available to use.

Clark appeared visibly frustrated by the contact. In reaction, she threw the ball down the court, narrowly missing Bueckers’ head, before both teams headed to the locker room.

The moment sparked a brief exchange between the two star guards, yet television microphones did not capture their words.

Bueckers received a common foul on the play, but tensions remained high. She was later given a technical foul after disputing a call involving Clark in the third quarter.

Kelsey Mitchell shone for Indiana with 37 points, while Clark contributed a team-high nine assists. On Dallas’ side, Arike Ogunbowale led with 32 points and Bueckers added eight assists.

In a previous matchup the week before, both Clark and Bueckers had impressive 29-point games. Indiana emerged victorious with a 98-87 win, though Clark was impressed by Bueckers’ performance.

“Obviously, she’s an incredible player, making it difficult for us defensively,” Clark remarked in a postgame interview. “Paige is smooth, finds the open teammate, and never forces anything, making her a tough guard.”
