Arrest in Washington D.C.
U.S. Capitol Police apprehended Philan-Tam-Duy Le, a 35-year-old man from Julian, California, on Tuesday, after discovering a guillotine in his pickup truck.
Police charged Le with suspicion of carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of the guillotine. The vehicle was parked unlawfully on East Capitol Street.
Investigation Underway
Le traveled from California to Washington D.C. Authorities are inspecting his background to determine his reasons for visiting the city.
The truck, noticed near the Capitol and the Supreme Court, drew attention due to its parking violation.
Social Media Activity
An Instagram account, believed to belong to Le, had a Story showing a man with the guillotine outside the FBI headquarters.
The video included a comment about being outside the FBI while eating pizza, accompanied by the captions “Guillotine adventures” and “Capital hill next.”
Arrests Beyond Capitol Grounds
Capitol Police make arrests beyond the immediate Capitol area, and such incidents are not always linked to political motives.
