In a detailed 22-page letter, North Carolina Republican Rep. Chuck Edwards sought to address and counter findings from an ethics report. The report accused him of engaging in “persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct.”
The House may decide as soon as next week whether to censure Rep. Edwards. The vote follows the publication of the ethics report. Edwards, in his letter, strongly defended his actions when interacting with two young female staffers. He insisted that his behavior did not rise to the level of sexual harassment and opposed the idea of being censured by the House.
