Rahmanullah Lakanwal, accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., is currently subject to forced feeding. This measure aims to stabilize his condition so he can stand trial. The incident occurred last fall, resulting in the death of one trooper.
Lakanwal was hospitalized in July due to his refusal to eat or drink. His health has reportedly worsened recently, although exact medical details have not been released in court documents.
The shooting, which took one life and injured another, took place near Farragut West station. A makeshift memorial for Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe was set up at the location to honor their service.
