A recent fatal stabbing in New York City’s Times Square resulted in the tragic death of Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America executive. Piacenti was attacked during her first week back at work after taking time off to care for her newborn daughter. The incident also resulted in another person being injured before the police apprehended the suspect.
Lexi Alexander, a filmmaker known for directing “Green Street Hooligans” and “Punisher: War Zone,” faced backlash for her remarks regarding Piacenti’s death. Alexander reposted a news headline about the incident alongside an image of Batman, modified to feature the accused, Luigi Mangione. Her post was flagged for “sensitive content” but remains viewable on her account.
Alexander criticized those condemning her post, attributing their responses to “hasbara,” an Israeli public relations campaign. She connected this to Bank of America’s support for Israel, dismissing concerns about Piacenti’s death.
Additionally, Alexander engaged with another post stating indifference to Piacenti’s death. She alleged that “Zionists” issued threats because of this stance, which fueled further controversy.
The situation has sparked discussions reminiscent of reactions to UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s alleged murder by Luigi Mangione. This phenomenon has been noted by journalist Douglas Murray, who highlighted a disturbing trend of rationalizing violence, particularly among far-left Americans.
During a public appearance, Murray questioned whether individuals should justify or support violence against others, pointing out the worrying number of people excusing such actions, including certain politicians.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the stabbing, acknowledging the suspect’s history of mental illness. Fox News has reached out to Alexander for further comments regarding her statements.
