Federal regulators have confirmed that the crew of the Amazon cargo jet involved in a crash at Miami International Airport on Sunday survived the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) shared the update during a press conference.
The cargo plane exceeded the runway while landing, subsequently catching fire. Authorities confirmed that the crash resulted in five fatalities and injured five more individuals.
NTSB Chairwoman, Jennifer Homendy, stated that the jet collided with two vehicles, carrying at least eight people. Seven of the victims were inside a van within the airport’s perimeter, used for cleaning services. The plane also struck a civilian vehicle after breaching the airport boundary.
