Aaron Judge Returns to New York Yankees

The Bronx Bombers are set to welcome back their captain. Aaron Judge is back from the 60-day injured list, ready to join the New York Yankees in their series against the Colorado Rockies at Yankee Stadium. Judge had been sidelined for three months due to a stress fracture in his right first rib, an injury sustained in late May.

On Monday, Judge was spotted working out at Yankee Stadium. He took live batting practice and showcased his ability to hit effectively, signaling his readiness to face major league pitchers. The Yankees chose not to assign Judge to a minor-league rehab stint. Manager Aaron Boone suggested alternative methods to help Judge build stamina for a potential postseason run in September, such as playing in games but with limited innings.

Rehabilitation and Preparation

Judge resumed baseball activities in August, initially hitting off a tee and participating in soft toss sessions before progressing to full batting practice. He joined the team during their West Coast road trip in San Diego and was seen hitting before games. To prepare for his return to right field, Judge used a high-velocity pitching machine and engaged in outfield and baserunning drills.

Aaron Judge’s return is crucial for the Yankees’ World Series aspirations.

The Yankees are eager to have their three-time MVP back as they aim to return to the World Series. Despite being four games behind the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees hold the top American League Wild Card position with a nine-game lead. Entering the upcoming matchup against the Rockies with an 81-62 record, New York is focused on securing the top spot in the AL East to ensure a favorable postseason position. The Boston Red Sox trail closely behind at 80-65.

Impact of Judge’s Absence

Before his injury on June 5, Judge was hitting .248/.375/.533 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. The Yankees experienced a 45-38 record over the 83 games he missed. Despite offensive challenges, the team’s pitching staff performed admirably during his absence. Judge’s return aims to enhance the Yankees’ offensive consistency, complementing their strong pitching as the regular season draws to a close.

The Yankees hope Judge’s return will bolster their chances in the postseason. A key figure in their strategy, Judge is expected to provide the offensive edge needed to advance further in the playoffs.
