Chicago police have concluded a prolonged standoff in Logan Square. The situation involved an individual barricaded inside a residence starting Monday afternoon, continuing overnight into Tuesday.
The police department’s SWAT team was dispatched to the 3400 block of West Wrightwood Avenue following an emergency call received before noon on Monday. This location is notably the same block where former Mayor Lori Lightfoot resides. However, a spokesperson confirmed Lightfoot is safe and not involved in the incident. Additionally, there have been no reported injuries related to the standoff.
A witness reported to the Tribune that officers were heard repeatedly addressing a man in the building. They urged him to drop a rifle out of a window. Police have indicated that more details will be released at a later time.
