Omos stands as one of the most formidable figures in the WWE, but he has recently focused on ventures outside the ring. Absent for two years, Omos pursued opportunities with other wrestling promotions. His journey included a stint with Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan and a successful debut at AAA’s Triplemania 33, where he won the Bardahl Cup, marking his dominance in Mexico.
During an interview with OutKick Dropkick before TripleMania 34 in Las Vegas, Omos expressed confidence about his move to AAA following his experience in Japan. He stated, “I had a chance to go to Japan last year for Pro Wrestling Noah and that prepared me for AAA.” The cultural immersion in Japan provided valuable experience, which he believed was instrumental in his career progression.
Recently, Omos faced suspension from AAA due to a confrontation with Rey Mysterio, the AAA general manager. Despite being temporarily sidelined, Omos managed to stir the rivalry further by getting involved in the action, even when attending as a paid spectator.
Omos will fight to regain his spot on the roster during the first night of Triplemania 34 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. His anticipation is evident as he prepares for his match against Rey Mysterio. “I am excited to hand out the greatest a— whooping of this lifetime to Rey Mysterio,” Omos declared.
Rey Mysterio’s legacy as a legendary WWE and Lucha Libre star doesn’t faze Omos. “No, I don’t give a damn,” he remarked, dismissing any concerns about facing such a renowned opponent. The dynamic between Omos and Mysterio has drawn comparisons to the classic ‘David and Goliath’ story, with experts like AAA commentator Corey Graves noting its potential to captivate audiences.
