Aaron Rodgers has publicly spoken about the end of his engagement with Shailene Woodley. During a conversation with teammate Cam Heyward on the podcast “Not Just Football,” Rodgers detailed the timeline of their relationship.
Rodgers and Woodley met during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly moved in together. In 2021, Rodgers announced their engagement. However, their relationship ended about a year later.
The 42-year-old quarterback shared that he had proposed to Woodley and she accepted, but later experienced doubts. “She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision, she could have said no,” Rodgers recalled. According to him, Woodley expressed regret about her decision, stating she needed to leave. This led to her removing the engagement ring by March.
Despite multiple attempts to patch things up, Rodgers stated, “There wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off.” He added that Woodley communicated she no longer wished to be with him.
Rodgers reflected on his relationships with other women, noting that their fame peaked when they were connected to him.
Woodley, while not responding to recent claims, previously addressed the breakup in a 2022 magazine interview. She described the relationship as both flawed and beautiful and mentioned experiencing depression after a traumatic event in early 2022.
