Georgia’s youngest elected mayor, Jayden Williams, was removed from office after just 10 months. Allegations surfaced that he misused city funds and engaged in inappropriate communications with an 18-year-old high school student.
Williams, now 23, was impeached by the Stockbridge City Council. He had taken office in January. A statement from the city confirmed the council’s formal action on Sunday, announcing his removal.

Williams was accused of using his city purchasing card for over $4,000 in personal expenses. These included restaurant meals, clothing, haircuts, and a movie. Reports indicated he spent $2,600 on gas and used a city vehicle for personal use, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
The unusual transactions were identified by city workers, who then notified management and the legal team. Williams testified that he did not intend to misuse city funds. He claimed the city-issued card looked similar to his own, which led to confusion. He reportedly replaced the cards to prevent further issues.
Additionally, accusations arose involving Williams exchanging sexually suggestive messages and explicit images with an 18-year-old student. Though the police found no criminal violations due to the student’s age, the matter was referred for administrative review over potential policy concerns. Investigators pointed out the interactions occurred as part of a city-affiliated mentorship program.
Williams clarified he met the student before his term began and that the student did not participate in the city’s ‘Mayor for a Day’ program. He stated, The individual was 18 years old at the time of our communication, meaning we were both adults. I met this individual on November 30, 2025, and our online communication occurred before I was sworn into office in January 2026.
Despite these issues, Williams has not been criminally charged. Previously, he was stripped of certain official privileges in July as the investigation proceeded.
