The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 195,000 heated blankets and pads sold on Amazon.com. This action follows numerous reports of burn injuries related to the products.
Safety Concerns
According to the CPSC, the internal heating elements in these blankets and pads have the potential to overheat, presenting both fire and burn hazards to consumers. The products are manufactured by JKMax.
JKMax has acknowledged receiving 577 reports of incidents where blankets have either smoked, melted, or burned due to this overheating issue. Among these cases, 53 resulted in burn injuries.
Product Details
These recalled products were available online from September 2022 to July 2026. They were sold in both single pack and dual pack options and are available in colors like blue, gray, brown, and red. The blankets are crafted from polyester fabric.
The recall specifically targets JKMax blanket model numbers JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B, and JKMAX-8490B. Consumers can identify these models by checking the remote control used for adjusting the heat level or the white label on the product packaging.
Immediate Actions
Regulators advise consumers who purchased these items to stop using them immediately. JKMax offers a full refund to affected customers. The recall identification number is 26-778.
