Reflecting on a Career at Fox News

3 days ago 0

Twenty-two years ago, I took a pivotal step in my career. My journey started at The Wall Street Journal and CNBC, but joining Fox News transformed my life in countless positive ways. I can’t envision a different path. Trusting my instincts brought me here.

On my first day, Jeff Hark, responsible for scheduling reporters and anchors, inquired about my family. Aware that I had three young children, he assured me Fox understood the challenges faced by young professionals raising kids. Initially defensive, I claimed I could manage my responsibilities without needing time off. Yet, I soon realized his sincerity. This thoughtful company policy motivated me to work harder, knowing I had their support.

Fox allowed me to grow and face new challenges. The environment was dynamic, and the growth rapid. An example is visible with anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum during FOX’s presentation in May. Embracing every opportunity opened new doors. In my first year, I joined the election team for the November 2004 presidential race. I humorously suggested reporting on how the DNC affected traffic in Boston, eager to be involved.

Soon, I found myself on the Democratic convention floor alongside Carl Cameron and Major Garrett, our experienced political reporters. I was thrilled yet nervous. I endured and began a 20-year journey covering elections for Fox News. By covering the historic presidential race, anchors Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier led “Democracy 2024.”

My career at Fox includes traveling the world, covering leaders, and sharing the stories of war heroes in Normandy, Berlin, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Fox encouraged a deep respect for veterans in a manner unmatched elsewhere.

I am deeply thankful for my Fox family. Lachlan, Suzanne, Jay, and everyone else feel like home. We share a love for our country, driven to uphold its highest standards, hold leaders accountable, and pray for its ongoing success.

Happy 30th birthday, Fox News.

Martha MacCallum serves as the anchor and executive editor of The Story with Martha MacCallum on FOX News Channel. She co-anchors election coverage and hosts the podcast, The Untold Story with Martha MacCallum. She joined FNC in 2004, based in New York.
