Robert Davi’s Move from California due to Crime and Politics

2 days ago 0

Robert Davi, a seasoned actor, singer, and filmmaker, has been a vocal critic of California’s political landscape and Hollywood’s cultural trends. Despite this, he never envisioned leaving the state he had adopted as home since 1977.

Davi, known for his roles in ‘The Goonies,’ ‘Die Hard,’ and as a Bond villain in ‘License to Kill,’ was born in Queens, New York. He relocated to Los Angeles as his career gained momentum. The lifestyle in California appealed to him, making it a natural choice for his long-term residence.

However, various factors eventually prompted Davi to sell his home and move to Florida. This change took effect four years ago, aligning with other Californians who moved to the Sunshine State.

The overwhelming influx of homelessness, political corruption, and the waste of money by local education agencies in Los Angeles contributed to my decision, Davi told Fox News Digital.

According to Davi, crime became a significant concern as well. Over time, his shopping experiences drastically changed with heightened security measures, like locked items in stores due to rampant crime.

The pivotal moment came with the home invasion and killing of Jacqueline Avant in Beverly Hills. Avant was the wife of Clarence Avant, a Grammy-winning music executive. Davi described her murder as the decisive incident that propelled his move.

A classically trained opera and jazz singer, Davi often performs the songs of Frank Sinatra. His connections within the Hollywood music community, including friendship with Quincy Jones, created a strong bond with the industry. Nevertheless, discontent with political dynamics and safety concerns became overwhelming.

Davi reflected on how Hollywood’s political climate shifted since the days of former President Ronald Reagan. He noted that, unlike today’s environment, conservative actors once openly expressed their views.

As Davi settled in Florida, he raised questions about California’s shift toward left-wing politics. He wonders how Hollywood’s political climate became so pronounced, differing starkly from his experiences in past decades.

Fox News Digital reached out to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office for comment.
