The White House plans to reopen part of Lafayette Square, a prominent public park located across the street from the White House. The partial reopening follows eight months of closure due to renovations initiated by President Donald Trump.
On Monday, workers began relocating temporary fences that had been in place since January, affecting the park along H Street NW. Despite these efforts, a significant portion of the park remained enclosed as of Monday afternoon.
Additionally, officials continue to explore options for constructing a permanent fence around the park, aiming to balance security and public access.
