Abdul El-Sayed, a Democratic Senate candidate from Michigan, recently expressed his willingness to appear on comedian Bill Maher’s show. During an interview with former NBC News host Chuck Todd, El-Sayed criticized Maher for his anti-Islam remarks but stated his intent to engage with Maher’s audience.
El-Sayed, while on the ‘Noosphere’ podcast, mentioned he would also consider appearing on Joe Rogan’s show despite disagreeing with some of Rogan’s views. He emphasized his desire to confront Maher on his show, ‘Real Time,’ with the goal of challenging Maher’s statements about Muslims.
“But you know who else would go on that show? I would go on that show. You know why? A: I wanna give people the image of watching him get his a– whooped on his own show by a guy who prays like I do,” El-Sayed said.
Responding to El-Sayed’s remarks, Maher extended an invitation for El-Sayed to appear on ‘Real Time.’ Maher stated that his discussion about Islam is never personal and is based on ideas rather than race or individuals.
El-Sayed has been known for using direct language in his campaign, particularly against his Republican rival, Mike Rogers. Last month, El-Sayed challenged Rogers to a game of tackle football as a metaphorical way to ‘debate’ their ideas. In response, Rogers downplayed the challenge, labeling it as unserious compared to the pressing issues of the election.
