Adam Brody Critiques Israel and Hollywood’s Political Climate

2 days ago 0

Adam Brody, a Jewish actor known for his role in Netflix’s romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This,” recently spoke to GQ Magazine about his political activism and the current situation in Gaza. Brody joined other progressive celebrities in accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza while also suggesting that Hollywood has shifted towards conservatism during President Donald Trump’s administration.

Brody, who plays a rabbi in the Netflix series, has previously not spoken publicly on the Middle East conflict but shared his private views with GQ. “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” Brody said, expressing his desire for a free Palestine. He noted the ongoing death and misery and expressed hope that a future administration might rectify policies contributing to the dire situation.

Other celebrities, including actor Mark Ruffalo and rapper Macklemore, have made similar statements regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, labeling it as genocide. Despite the growing number of celebrities speaking out against Israel’s actions, Brody observed a decrease in political activism within Hollywood. He noted the shift in mood from Trump’s first presidency, which sparked significant activism and political engagement.

Brody commented, “The first time Trump was elected, it was inconceivable… There was so much activism.” He felt that during Trump’s second term, corporations aligned more with the presidency, and people found it riskier to oppose him. The mood in the country seemed to settle, but Brody mentioned an emerging sense of empowerment as the new election cycle begins. He voiced optimism about renewed activism.

Brody asserted that Hollywood has become more “outspokenly” conservative under Trump’s second term, attributing this to various human factors such as groupthink and self-interest. Fox News Digital reached out to Brody’s representatives but did not receive a response.

Christian Toto, founder of “Hollywood in Toto,” argued against Brody’s view, stating that while it’s marginally easier to be a conservative in Hollywood, groupthink and backstage bullying persist. He mentioned that Hollywood activism has returned to pre-election levels. Toto suggested that Brody’s public statements might help his career by aligning him with hard-Left views favored by many actors.

Lindsay Kornick, associate editor for Fox News Digital, provided the story and encouraged readers to send tips via Twitter.
