Miranda Lambert Reflects on Journey in Country Music Industry

2 hours ago 0

Miranda Lambert, known for hits like “The House That Built Me,” believes she deserves greater recognition for her role in country music. As one of the few women in the genre’s spotlight, Lambert has witnessed significant changes in the industry. In a Popcast episode, she shared insights into her experiences and the evolution of country music.

Lambert discussed the early 2000s, a time when the industry emphasized image. “Back then, it was about being sexy and pretty,” Lambert said. “But I wanted to stay true to my identity as a ‘gun-totin’ redneck.'” She worked hard to ensure her authenticity was not overlooked.

Lambert highlighted her and fellow artist Carrie Underwood’s struggle for visibility, particularly in male-dominated years. “In the 2010 era, female artists were scarce,” Lambert noted.

Despite challenges, Lambert and Underwood carved out a presence. “It was seven years of mostly male artists,” she explained. Yet, Lambert sees progress today, noting, “Now, it feels really balanced. The way we consume music allows for diversity.”

Both Lambert and Underwood have mutual respect for each other, with recent concert exchanges affirming this bond. Lambert appreciated Underwood’s Vegas show, stating, “Her performance was incredible. It was a special moment because there were only two of us for so long.”

Lambert expressed gratitude for the current inclusivity in the country music scene. “There is space for a variety of voices and messages,” she said. “While you may not love every sound, at least each has a platform now.”
