During the Cincinnati Bengals’ recent loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team not only suffered a defeat but also faced the loss of its key offensive players, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, due to injuries.
Injury Details
Ja’Marr Chase was diagnosed with a concussion, while Tee Higgins sustained an adductor injury. This raised concerns about their availability for the Bengals’ Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, October 11.
Chase’s Potential Return
On Thursday, Chase took an encouraging step toward a possible return. ESPN’s Ben Baby reported that Chase participated in practice, indicating progress through the concussion protocol. While not yet fully cleared to play, the wide receiver’s participation offers hope for his presence in Sunday’s game.
Chase exited last Sunday’s game against the Jaguars in the second quarter. A play by cornerback Jarrian Jones involved a face mask violation, advancing the Bengals 15 yards. Despite this, Chase walked off the field independently and missed the remainder of the game.
Higgins’ Status
As of Thursday, Tee Higgins had not practiced for two consecutive days, suggesting he might miss the Week 5 game. Fox19’s Jeremy Rauch reported Higgins engaged in light jogging on a rehab field.
Impact on the Bengals
So far this season, Chase has logged 212 yards and three touchdowns across 21 catches. He trails Higgins, who leads with 401 yards. Playing without their leading receivers poses a significant challenge for the Bengals, currently holding a 2-2 record.
Fortunately, their opponent this weekend is an 0-4 Miami team. However, every game is crucial in the NFL, and missing both Chase and Higgins could greatly impact the Bengals’ performance.
