The Pentagon has confirmed that the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted for the Fort Hood shooting, will be broadcasted live. Scheduled for December 3 at Fort Hood, Texas, this marks the military’s first execution in over 60 years.

On November 5, 2009, Hasan, a former Army major, attacked unarmed soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood, killing 13 and injuring 32. He was sentenced to death in 2013, following his conviction for the attack.

President Donald Trump, acting on Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s advice, authorized the use of a firing squad for Hasan’s execution. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed this decision on social media, signaling the long-awaited arrival of ‘judgment day’ for Hasan.

If the execution occurs, it will be the first U.S. military execution since 1961 and the first firing squad use since 1945. Currently, Hasan remains on military death row at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
