Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are visiting Nottingham today to complete three charity visits. These appearances mark their first joint public engagements since they returned to Britain from America in August.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are revisiting the city where Meghan carried out her first official royal engagements in December 2017, shortly after they announced their engagement.
Significance of Their Visit
Their visit has sparked discussion in Britain regarding its implications. Some question if these events could be seen as similar to official royal duties, potentially posing a threat to the monarchy. As a letter sent in September on behalf of King Charles III states, the couple are “private citizens” rather than working royals.
The Community Recording Studio
Harry and Meghan will visit The Community Recording Studio (CRS), established in 1991. The organization provides young people with access to film, video, and music production equipment and training without charge.
“The aim then was stated simply, and has not changed since: help young people develop their skills and get into work. What made it unusual was not the ambition but the access.”
Harry previously visited in September 2025, highlighting the charity’s positive impact on the community, especially as a countermeasure to violence in the area. He emphasized the importance of offering young people alternatives to prevent knife crime and violence.
The Hubb Community Kitchen
Next, Meghan and Harry will visit the Himmah food bank in the city. They will meet members of the Hubb Community Kitchen, known for their work in cooking for Grenfell Tower fire survivors, which killed 72 people in London in June 2017.
Meghan collaborated with the women of the kitchen to produce “Together: Our Community Cookbook” with sales going to charity. She wrote a foreword sharing her experiences of the community kitchen.
“An apron was quickly wrapped around me, I pushed up my sleeves and I found myself washing the rice for lunch. All the aromas percolating in a kitchen filled with countless languages aflutter remain one of my most treasured memories from my first visit to the kitchen.”
In 2022, the group shared a message received from Meghan on social media, marking the five-year anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy and expressing her ongoing care for the community.
Visiting Epic Partners
The couple’s final public stop is at Epic Partners, an organization that supports young people with clubs, activities, and holiday camps. Harry’s involvement with this charity dates back to 2013, and Meghan met its members during her initial Nottingham visit in 2017.
“Epic Partners is a local charity dedicated to empowering positive change for children and young people in the communities of Nottingham.”
The organization aims to overcome challenges such as Adverse Childhood Experiences and social exclusion by providing safe spaces and nurturing environments.
