1 month ago 0

Surprise, Ariz. — Cali Overs, a high school senior, spent her final year focusing on activism. Her efforts concentrated on a Department of Homeland Security facility being established near her school in Arizona.

In February, Overs faced the city hall’s lectern at midnight. As she stood before the mayor, Kevin Sartor, nerves were apparent in her voice. Her concern was directed towards public officials at various levels—local, state, and federal.

Following her last day of high school in June, Overs and her friends gathered at a Dutch Bros Coffee shop in Surprise, Arizona. They celebrated their graduation and her commitment to civic engagement.

This story highlights a young individual’s determination to engage in the political process and voice concerns about local government actions.
