Chicago White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami Exits Game with Injury

1 month ago 0

Chicago White Sox’s standout player, Munetaka Murakami, left Friday’s match against the Detroit Tigers in the third inning due to right hamstring tightness. The team announced that Murakami is undergoing further evaluation.

The incident occurred during the third inning at Rate Field. Murakami injured himself while sprinting to first base on a fielder’s choice play. He grounded the ball to second baseman Zach McKinstry, who forced out the runner at second. Despite the force play, Murakami managed to reach first safely to prevent a double play. Following this, the White Sox training staff evaluated him and decided he needed to exit the game.

Before Friday’s game, Murakami was impressive in the league standings. He was tied with Yordan Alvarez from the Houston Astros for the American League lead in home runs, with both players hitting 20 home runs. Additionally, he was also tied for the top spot in RBIs, accumulating 41 alongside Jonathan Aranda from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Murakami joined the White Sox on a two-year contract during the offseason, following an eight-year stint with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Making history as a rookie, he is the only player in major-league history to hit 20 home runs before June.
