AMBER Alert Issued for Missing 5-Year-Old Girl Abducted by Father

Law enforcement officials are currently searching for a young girl, aged 5, who was allegedly abducted by her father on Sunday. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has issued an AMBER Alert to locate Amaya Meithof.

Incident Details

Amaya Meithof was reportedly taken at around 4:36 a.m. from a residence in Carson City, Nevada. Authorities suspect that she is with her father, 41-year-old Christopher Meithof, whose last known location was in Federal Way, Washington. He is believed to be heading south toward Quartz Hill, California.

Suspect and Victim Information

Investigators are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspect’s vehicle, a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Oregon license plate 576 QNU.

Suspect Description: Christopher Meithof is approximately 6 feet tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Victim Description: Amaya Meithof last seen in a blue princess nightgown. She has common allergies but is in otherwise good health.

Christopher Meithof is currently on parole, with previous convictions for burglary and weapons possession, as revealed by public records reviewed by Newsweek. The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed his paternity but lacks further information on the search as of midday Monday.

Mother’s Appeal

The child’s mother, Crystal Rose, has made several emotional pleas on social media, requesting community help in locating her daughter.

He came to visit her and took her and disappeared,” she posted on Facebook. “I didn’t want it to come to this but this is not how we do things.”

She further urged: “Please share this post with everyone you know. Please help me bring my peachy home safe.”

Attempts to contact Christopher Meithof have been unsuccessful, and Rose did not respond to requests for further comment as of midday Monday.
