Taylor Swift and Tom Hanks Bring Excitement to ‘Toy Story 5’

Swift joined the film’s premiere on June 9, bringing along her original VHS copy of the first Toy Story movie, a gesture characteristic of her nostalgic spirit. At the premiere, she requested an autograph from Tom Hanks, a star of the film series. He gladly obliged. In a conversation with USA Today, Hanks humorously suggested that Swift should have brought an old VHS player for signing.

I told her she should have brought in the VHS machine so that we could have signed it, ’cause that could go into the Smithsonian Institute as well.

Tom Hanks further revealed in a Variety interview that he learned of Swift’s musical contribution only at the end of the film’s production. He recounted being led into a soundproof room where they unveiled Swift’s song as the finale. Hanks was surprised by the secretive handling.

They ushered us into a soundproof room and said, ‘Tonight, at 9 p.m., the true end titles song is going to drop and it’s by Taylor Swift.’

He compared the revelation to discovering Judy Garland’s iconic song in The Wizard of Oz, emphasizing its significance. The unexpected addition pleased the entire cast and crew.
