Knicks Fans Stir Controversy After NBA Finals Game 4

3 weeks ago 0

The San Antonio Spurs faced a challenging end to Game 4 of the NBA Finals. During the team’s return to their hotel, NBA star Victor Wembanyama was struck by an egg, seemingly thrown by taunting Knicks fans. This incident gained attention on social media as footage showed a security team escorting Wembanyama into a New York City hotel under attack.

This is the latest in a series of incidents involving Knicks supporters. After the Spurs’ victory in Game 3, social media captured Knicks fans seemingly confronting Spurs fans. Some Spurs supporters appeared to have their jerseys torn off, prompting Wembanyama to criticize the behavior.

“My thoughts are that we must remember it’s a game,” Wembanyama stated. “We play with passion, but we must respect each other. This is unacceptable.” ESPN host Mike Greenberg echoed these sentiments, condemning the actions of some Knicks fans.

“If you’re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and harassing people wearing Spurs jerseys, you are a disgrace,” Greenberg said on “Get Up.” “You’re disgracing yourself and those who know you.”

Greenberg continued, “In today’s world, what should go without saying often does not. You are a disgrace and everyone around you knows it.”

A celebration for Knicks fans after Game 3 turned violent in New York City. Multiple brawls erupted near a watch party in Bryant Park. The New York Police Department reported 21 arrests, including 13 for disorderly conduct and eight for assaulting officers, criminal possession of weapons, and menacing.

This year marks the Knicks’ first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 when they lost to the Spurs. The team has not claimed a championship since 1973. The 2026 NBA Finals will continue in San Antonio on Saturday for Game 5. If needed, Game 6 will return to New York on Tuesday.
