Iowa’s Rising Cancer Rates Gain Attention

For many years, discussions about cancer in the United States frequently highlighted areas like the Deep South’s Cancer Alley or the Appalachian states, known for high smoking rates. However, Iowa has recently become a focal point in these discussions.

Iowa now holds the position of having the second-highest cancer incidence rate in the nation. Notably, it is one of only three states where cancer rates are currently increasing.

The reasons behind Iowa’s rising cancer rates remain a topic of investigation. Factors such as environmental exposure, lifestyle choices, and access to healthcare are examined to understand this trend better.
