2 weeks ago 0

Harry Styles enchanted the crowd with a distinctive orchestral show at Southbank’s Meltdown festival on June 16. The 32-year-old artist temporarily stepped away from his highly successful “Together, Together” residency at Wembley Stadium. Styles joined forces with composer Jules Buckley and House Gospel Choir at the sold-out Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Center, U.K.

Styles offered a fresh take on songs from his album “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally” and earlier solo projects. He also delivered a surprise rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

In an interaction with the audience, Styles expressed his appreciation for classical and orchestral music. He remarked, “This field is intimidating when you cannot read music. Meeting Jules and working together felt welcoming and collaborative.”

The performance was part of the ongoing Meltdown festival at Southbank, which started on June 11. Curated by Styles, the festival features diverse performances by indie, jazz, electronic, and pop artists. These include a combination of free and ticketed events.

Speaking to “Billboard,” Styles said, “Music is my life; each artist in this year’s Meltdown festival holds special significance to me as both a fan and musician.” He described the honor of hosting legendary and emerging acts inspiring him creatively.

The Meltdown festival continues at Southbank Center until June 21. Concurrently, Styles’ “Together, Together” tour will extend through the year, including a significant 30-night series at New York’s Madison Square Garden this fall. His 12-show Wembley Stadium residency concludes on July 4.
