Cedric Alexander Triumphs in TNA X Division Championship Defense

2 days ago 0

Cedric Alexander successfully defended his Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) X Division Championship at Slammiversary on Sunday night. He faced a challenging task in retaining the title during an Ultimate X match, a specialty in TNA history.

This marked the 55th Ultimate X match in TNA. Alexander’s opponents included Amazing Red, Frankie Kazarian, Fabian Aichner, Leon Slater, KC Navarro, and Mr. Elegance. Notably, Amazing Red returned to a TNA ring after a 15-year hiatus.

Competitors aimed to climb one of the pillars in the ring, navigate the cables suspended above, and grab the championship belt. Alexander, along with Kazarian, Red, and Aichner, simultaneously pursued the belt. Amidst the tension, Alexander slipped, pulling down Aichner, while Red and Kazarian fell to the mat. This moment highlighted Red and Kazarian’s enduring skills.

Mr. Elegance saw an opportunity to claim the title as others were off the mat, but Navarro thwarted his attempt. Later, Red engaged Navarro directly, executing a Code Red maneuver and subsequently repeated it on Kazarian. Although Red aimed for the title, Slater intercepted him.

Leon Slater gained momentum as he recognized his path to victory was blocked. He performed a double blockbuster, targeting Aichner, Elegance, Kazarian, and Navarro. Red and Slater raced for the title in the middle of the cable line. Slater unhooked the belt, yet Alexander intervened, snatching it from Slater’s grasp.

Alexander was declared the winner as neither Slater nor Red had landed on the mat. This victory left Alexander with the X Division Championship for the time being, after initially claiming it from Slater.
