2 hours ago 0

A Republican lawmaker stressed the need for the United States to sustain efforts to combat cartels after a successful action in Venezuela. The U.S. executed a strike targeting a leader of the Tren de Aragua gang, marking a significant step in disrupting cartel operations.

Focus on Trafficking Threats

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney highlighted the dangers posed by drug and human trafficking cartels. She emphasized the need to protect citizens and locate 146,000 children who have been victims of human trafficking. This objective remains a crucial mission for law enforcement agencies.

Indictments and Arrests

Federal prosecutors recently charged 11 individuals from Venezuela and Colombia with various offenses. Ten of these individuals are reportedly in the U.S. without authorization. They face accusations related to trafficking a minor and an adult woman for sex, along with drug and firearms trafficking.

Ten suspects were apprehended in Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. One suspect is still at large. A federal indictment from June alleges that four defendants were involved in a conspiracy to sex traffic individuals between July and August 2025. The Justice Department noted an inconsistency in the minor’s age, reported alternatively as 17 and 14.

“These defendants allegedly engaged in a range of illegal activities, from drugs to firearms to human trafficking,” stated U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II. “We will prosecute such crimes to the fullest extent of the law.”

Operation Details

The Justice Department described how the defendants advertised commercial sex services in central Ohio and traveled across states to facilitate prostitution. Besides trafficking firearms, they sold substances such as ecstasy. Some suspects are accused of unlawfully possessing firearms in the U.S.

The investigation was led by a Homeland Security Task Force, emphasizing efforts to protect communities from transnational criminal organizations. FBI Cincinnati Special Agent Jason Cromartie expressed commitment to removing narcotics, firearms, and violent offenders from the streets.

Community Protection Initiatives

This case forms part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative, established under an executive order from President Trump. This initiative targets transnational criminal organizations and aims to safeguard American communities from foreign criminal elements.

The defendants include several nationals residing in different U.S. states. The list of individuals charged includes:

  • Jean Pierre Alejandro Guillen Salcedo and Taidin Adreina Ferrer Guillen in Ohio
  • Pedro Angel Colls-Flores and Alismar Daniela Contreras-Arevalo in Columbus
  • Briyi Daniela Ordonez-Iter and Julian David Patino Pena in Ohio
  • John Alexandre Fajardo-Ulzcategui and Jose Ruben Sanchez-Pena in Tennessee
  • Keivar Elian Guillen Salcedo in North Carolina
  • Therry Brayant Leon Gavida in Florida
  • Dervin Alejandro Colmenares Quintero, listed as residing in Mexico

An indictment comprises only allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Fox News Digital is seeking clarification from the Justice Department on the minor’s age discrepancy.
