Ukrainian Woman Identified as Suspect in Monaco Bombing

2 hours ago 0

Interpol has identified a 39-year-old Ukrainian woman as the suspect in a Monaco bombing. This attack reportedly targeted a Ukrainian magnate and his family. On Friday, the International Criminal Police Organization placed Anastasiia Berezovska under a ‘Red Notice’ on its website. She is wanted in Monaco for charges related to attempted murder and placing an explosive device on a public road.

The suspect has a tattoo, possibly a snake, extending from her shoulder to her right elbow, and she speaks German.

Monaco’s deputy public prosecutor, Morgan Raymon, stated that Berezovska’s last known residence was in Germany. She is believed to have fled through France and then Italy using a rental car.

While Monaco authorities have not confirmed the identities of the victims, media in France and Ukraine suggest the attack aimed at Vadym Yermolaiev, a 58-year-old wealthy businessman originally from Ukraine and now a Cypriot citizen. Yermolaiev’s partner and their 13-year-old son were also reportedly targeted.

Raymon remarked that the bomb detonation was remote-controlled. French experts are analyzing the bomb remnants, he added.

Initially, the suspect was perceived as a heavily built male wearing a dark long-sleeved top, light shorts, and a black bucket hat. However, a broader review of CCTV footage and witness statements shifted the investigation towards a woman disguised as a man, according to Raymon.

The attack has shocked the Mediterranean nation, renowned for its affluence and small size. Monaco’s Prince Albert II condemned it as “an odious act” and reported that all public services were mobilized to maintain security.
